Cinematographer Tim Sidell’s feature Two For Joy receives its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this Saturday 23 June – the feature is nominated for the prestigious Michael Powell Award for Best Film.
Directed by Tom Beard and starring Samantha Morton and Billie Piper, Two For Joy is a powerful coming-of-age drama about a sister and younger brother who must care for their troubled mother (Samantha Morton) as their relationship reaches critical mass. The feature looks at Britain through the eyes of a family in crisis and deals with issues of mental illness, marginalised communities and national identity.
Shot on Kodak 35mm film last summer, this is director Beard’s feature directorial debut – Tim has collaborated with him previously on music promos and short films, including Generation of Vipers starring Daniel Mays (who also features in Two For Joy).
