Red Rose aired on the BBC to great reviews, with Production Designer Stéphane Collonge collaborating with director Ramon Salazar who opened the show, followed by Henry Blake and Lisa Siwe. Cinematographer Matthias Pilz shot Block 2 alongside Henry Blake.
The British horror drama is being described as a “lively teen horror series that is a creepier Black Mirror”.
“Set over a long hot summer following high school, the teens’ friendships are infiltrated by the Red Rose app, which blooms on their smartphones, threatening them with dangerous consequences if they don’t meet its demands. The app exposes the group to a seemingly supernatural entity and the seductive power of the dark web.”
Red Rose stars Amelia Clarkson (Jane Eyre, Poldark), Ellis Howard (Help, Romeo & Juliet), Ali Khan (6 Underground, Halo) and Ashna Rabheru (Sex Education, Year of the Rabbit).
“The creators, Michael and Paul Clarskon, have previous experience with horror hokum (they produced The Haunting of Bly Manor), but here they make something more engaging. The two leads, Rochelle (Isis Hainsworth) and Wren (Amelia Clarkson), are up to their necks in plausible teenage vexation, already featuring poverty, childcare, broken homes and our old friend wastrel dads.”
Red Rose aired on the 15th August on BBC Three and is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer in full!
