With Production Design by Soraya Gilanni Viljoen, feature Queen at Seais receiving its World Premiere at the Berlin Film Festival 2026, In Competition.
Directed by Lance Hammer, the feature stars Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, The Staircase), Anna Calder-Marshall (Wuthering Heights, Last Christmas), Tom Courtenay (45 Years, Doctor Zhivago), Steven Cree (Outlaw/King, The Diplomat) and Noah Hunt Basden.
Deadline: "Queen at Sea stars Binoche alongside Tom Courtenay. The film explores how dementia erodes a woman's ability to communicate her inner life. As her husband and daughter struggle to act in her best interest, they must navigate love and the fragile boundaries between care, protection, and autonomy."
Variety: "Queen at Sea," which also stars two time Academy Award nominee Tom Courtenay, marks the return to Berlin of the U.S. filmmaker Lance Hammer with his second feature, following the acclaimed debut "Ballast," which earned him a best director prize at Sundance and six Independent Spirit Award nominations."
Deadline: "Careful to avoid spoilers, Binoche teased some fresh details."It has the theme of a Alzheimer's and what are the boundaries between what you can do, or what you cannot do, with somebody who has this illness. It brings up questions…and through different generations, there are three different generations."
