This Friday Pin Cushion with Cinematography by Nicola Daley ACS hits UK cinemas – 13.07.2018 / TRAILER
Directed by Deborah Haywood Pin Cushion has played at multiple festivals in the lead up to its theatrical release, including Venice Film Festival, Int’l Film Festival Rotterdam, Cleveland Int’l Film Festival, Glasgow Film Festival and the Evening Standard British Film Awards. It was also nominated for the Douglas Hickok Award for Best Film at the BIFAs, with Lily Newmark nominated as Most Promising Newcomer and Gavin Humphries as Breakthrough Producer.
Joanna Scanlon & rising star Lily Newmark play super close Mother Lyn and daughter Iona and are excited for their new life in a new town. Determined to make a success of things after a tricky start, Iona becomes ‘best friends’ with her new school ‘girlfriends’. Used to being Iona’s bestie herself, Lyn feels left out. So Lyn also makes friends with her neighbour but as much as Lyn and Iona pretend to each other that things are going great, things aren’t going great for either of them. Iona struggles with the girls, who act more like frenemies than friends, and the neighbour won’t give Lyn her stepladders back. Both Mother and Daughter retreat into fantasy and lies.
Pin Cushion follows the cinema release earlier this year of feature documentary Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards directed by Michael Roberts with contributors including Naomi Campbell, David Bailey, Sofia Coppola, Rupert Everett, Iman, Angelica Huston…
