Derry Girls + Oli Russell + Best Comedy At Broadcast Awards 2019

The 6th February 2019 held the Broadcast Awards where it was announced that Derry Girls won Best Comedy Programme. The Series is based around the lives of a group of teenage girls during the troubles in Northern Ireland in the 1990s.

Created by Lisa McGee, Derry Girls was shot by Oli Russell and stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland and Nicola Coughlan.

The show premiered on the 4 January 2018 on Channel 4 and was renewed for a second series after just the pilot episode. The second series will air March 2019.
