RYAN KERNAGHAN + KNEECAP + BIFA NOMINATION

A huge congratulations to Cinematographer Ryan Kernaghan ISC who has received a BIFA nomination for his work on feature film Kneecap. Directed by Rich Peppiatt, Kneecap has been nominated for 14 awards in total including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.
Kneecap has also been nominated for a European Film Award for the European Discover – Prix FIPRESCI award.
“When fate brings Belfast teacher JJ into the orbit of self-confessed ‘low life scum’ Naoise and Liam Og, the needle drops on a hip hop act like no other. Rapping in their native Irish, they lead a movement to save their mother tongue.”
Kneecap, released in August 2024 stars Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, DJ Próvai, Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty and Jessica Reynolds. Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, Naoise Ó Cairelalláin and JJ Ó Dochartaigh were also nominated for Best Joint Lead Performance at the BIFAs.
Kneecap had its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival where it won the NEXT Award.
The feature has also won three awards at Galway Film Fleadh, including Best Irish Film, Best Irish Language Feature Film and the Audience Award.

Features include BAFTA & BIFA winning Kneecap, directed by Rich Peppiatt, for which Ryan received an IFTA & BIFA nomination for Best Cinematography, Boys From County Hell, directed by Chris Baugh, and the darkly comic revenge thriller Bad Day for the Cut which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Drama includes Trespasses, for which Ryan received a BAFTA TV Craft nomination, directed by Dawn Shadforth, The Hunt for Raoul Moat directed by Gareth Bryn and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms S1.
