Cinematographer Nicola Daley shot My Asian Family – a musical screening on BBC4 as part of the Big British Asian Summer season.
My Asian Family tells the story of the Thakars – charting the decades from their arrival in Britain through to the modern day through song, dance and vibrant colour.
Episode 1 is set to premiere on BBC4 this Wednesday 22nd at 10:00pm.
Features include Terence Davies’ Benediction and the BFI funded Pin Cushion directed by Deborah Haywood. TV drama includes The Handmaid’s Tale S5 directed by Elisabeth Moss, Paradise Lost starring Nick Nolte and Josh Hartnett, Halo Season 2, and Gangs of London Season 3. Documentaries include the Michael Roberts feature documentary Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards and Go Back To Where You Came From directed by Ivan O’Mahoney.
In 2014 Nicola became the 8th woman in Australian history to be accredited into the Australian Society of Cinematographers, and subsequently in 2024 was inducted into the ACS Hall of Fame.
Winner – Craft Award for Achievement – Women in Film and TV Awards 2022.
